BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 11 Duke at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
 
In doubles action, freshman Tamara Barad Itzhaki and junior Rita Pinto kept a tight match against the doubles team of Chloe Beck and Karolina Berankova on Court 2, until the game was called short due to the point being clinched.

Weymouth could get its own municipal internet

WEYMOUTH – Mayor Robert Hedlund wants the town to develop a plan for launching its own municipal fiber network to provide townwide internet access.

Hedlund will submit a proposal to the Weymouth Town Council asking to use about $25,000 to fund a master plan as the first step in the process. The money would come from the host community agreement with Algonquin Gas Transmission, the company that owns the natural gas compressor station.

Apple is rejecting apps that have “irrationally high” in-app purchase prices, just a few weeks after a developer vented his frustrations about scams on the App Store.
