Sacramento, California-based managed security services provider (MSSP) Total Secure Technology has acquired Computer Technical Specialists (CTS), an IT service provider from the Monterey/Salinas, California area. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CTS will be rebranded as a branch location of Total Secure Technology and CTS’ owner, Joel Trice, will join the company as director of IT operations, the company said.

Northwood Technical College will open its doors to students on the sites of WITC’s existing campuses in Northwest Wisconsin.

The new name and the new mascot, Blaze the Bear, are the result of a rebranding effort launched by the technical colleges’ administration.

“When we talk about branding specifically, we found that there’s declining recognition of the Indianhead to describe the region,” said John Will, WITC president. “It was creating some brand confusion for us.”

The biggest news of the weekend was the Tech Basketball team’s defeat of the Syracuse Orange in Atlanta. The Jackets significantly helped their NCAA Tournament chances with this win, even moving into Joe Lunardi’s “Last Four In” on his projected bracket. Moses Wright brought Tech to the victory, scoring 31 points and grabbing 16 boards. Strangely, these are Tech’s first back-to-back winning seasons in ACC play since the 1988-89 and 89-90 years.
